Frequently Asked Questions

Does HGM have a COI (Certificate of insurance)?

Yes we do! Many newer buildings, co-ops, and elevator buildings require a COI. This is essentially contractors insurance to protect the building from being sued by anyone getting injured while moving in the building itself. Let us know in advance if you require a COI. We require 24 hours to prepare one.

Does HGM do any hourly work?

We can do hourly for unload/load only. Mainly for work that doesn’t require a truck and is solely labor. Reach out and we’re happy to discuss!

Will HGM disassemble my bedframe? TVs?

We disassemble/reassemble bedframes/tables/desks. We unmount TVs as well, for liability reasons we don’t remount at new apartments.

Does HGM do load-ins + buildouts?

HGM serves commercial production, photo/video production, and events labor (skilled and unskilled).

Do I have to use a mattress cover?

Yes it is NYC law to reduce the bedbug problem plaguing the 5 boroughs. We can provide them, but they can be found at bodegas, uhauls, and hardware stores.

Does HGM offer a packing service?

We DON’T offer small residential packing services. HGM has a network of freelancers who are good packers we’re happy to connect interested parties to. HGM can pack for massive residential moves or luxury residential moves. Feel free to inquire if you think your move qualifies. We DO offer packing for commercial office moves.

Does HGM do office rearrangement?

Yes! Hot Guys Moving does same building office rearrangement and moving/labor for events.

Does HGM haul trash?

We don’t haul trash. Our recommendation for intact furniture and items is putting it on the curb and posting to @stoopingnyc, freeuse (facebook group), and no waste (facebook group). Broken furniture we recommend calling 311 and scheduling bulk pickup. It’s a free service provided by NYC.

Will HGM increase the price of my move day of?

The HGM Office works really hard to minimize increasing the price of the move day of. Share as much information about your move and items being moved. If the Hot Guys arrive and there are significant discrepancies between the items quoted for and the items we’re asked to move we will immediately talk about any potential price increases.

Things to look out for:

  • double check flights of stairs

  • was furniture assembled in the apartment and is now unable to fit through doorways?

  • check with your building that you’re able to move on the confirmed date/time.

  • did I notify HGM of high value items (TVs, Fine Art, Computers)?

  • did I remember all of my large furniture?

Reach out to the office ASAP if any of these are the case and we can adjust the quote accordingly.
